ROTARACT

Purpose:
A Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women aged 18 to 30 years who are dedicated to Rotary service ideals. Rotaracters are "partners in service" with their Rotary Club sponsors. Not only do they organise local and international service projects, but also provide a valuable pool of future Rotarians.

Goals:
To offer you a wide range of activities that will enable you to try something new, whilst having a great time and meeting others…..We want to meet you.

History:
The very first Rotaract Club was chartered in North Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1968 and the first NZ club, Mt Albert, was chartered in 1969. In its heyday in the 1980s there were over 80 Rotaract Clubs.

During the 1990’s Rotaract entered a phase of decline in New Zealand with most clubs terminating, until 1998 when the Rotaract Club of Somerville in Auckland was chartered. The "Rotaract Revival" has continued and, with the chartering of the West Auckland Rotaract Club in May 2013, there are now at least 10 Rotaract Clubs in NZ - West Auckland, Pupuke (Auckland’s North Shore), Auckland City, Auckland University, Botany/Manukau, Pakuranga, Frankton (Hamilton), Rotorua, Wellington and Dunedin.

Today, there are some 165,000 members in more than 7,500 Rotaract Clubs in 161 countries.
