New Members
Rotary is a long-established, large, international organisation. New members need guidance and support in their first year to learn about your club, its members and Rotary as a whole and no-one EVER knows everything about Rotary.
It is helpful to understand what your new member wants from Rotary and provide them with guidance on where to look for information and who to ask for assistance.
The Template Application Form (refer left-hand column) is a 'framework' for clubs. It captures the data required to be entered into the Rotary International database for a new member and some additional information to assist clubs with member induction. Clubs may wish to add fields to capture other information used in club activities. The second page is a suggested administration checklist to ensure all activities are covered.
Use the Welcome Pack information (refer left-hand column) to help make a new member's induction special and ensure they are entered into the RI database as soon as possible via My Rotary.
The Rotary International Membership team supports clubs with a series of email communications to new members.(refer left-hand column)
Rotary Information Event (YASS Method)
The Rotary Club of Yass in New South Wales developed an effective method for attracting members, based around a Rotary information event. This method has been used successfully by several clubs in both Australia and New Zealand.
The resources in the left-hand column provide an outline of the steps, a powerpoint presentation, an invitation example and a database template.
Rotary clubs in our district which have used this method are Birkenhead, Milford, Henderson and Kerikeri.
You can also contact Janice Dowle (see Team above) for assistance.
