Peer Support Foundation

This Foundation administers the Peer Support programme designed to provide support for teenagers starting in secondary schools, in District 9910.

The programme provides for the selection and training of senior students to give emotional and moral support to younger students. It is usually run as part of the school curriculum with volunteer students being trained by qualified Peer Support trained teachers to lead small groups of incoming Year 9 students in weekly activities and discussions.

Rotary Clubs throughout New Zealand support the programme. Funds are sought from private and public sources. Clubs are requested to liaise with their matching secondary schools to sponsor the programme in those particular schools.
